5 Creative DIY Wine Cork Projects

I’ll admit, I have some hoarder tendencies. T-shirts from high school, scraps of patterned paper, rubber bands from the grocery store…I save them all. One of the many things I “collect” is wine corks. I have quite the growing pile, so I decided it was finally time to upcycle those corks and put them to good use! Here are five super easy DIY projects you can make with leftover wine corks.

1. DIY Cork Magnetic air plant holders – Using a paring knife, dig a small hole in the top of a wine cork until it’s just the right size for a small air plant to sit in. Glue a magnet to the back, and voila! You have a magnetic air plant holder.

2. DIY Cork Place card holder – This might be the easiest project of them all. Cut a thin slit in the side of the cork and slip a place card inside. If the cork is rolling around on your plate, you can cut a little bit off the bottom so it sits flat.

3. DIY Cork Cheese knives – Get some inexpensive cheese knives and pull the handles off to expose the knife portion.  Then, stick the knife portion into leftover wine corks. You can use the same hole from the corkscrew, or use a knife to poke starter holes in the corks. See my blog post for more photos.

4. DIY Cork Stamps – Make your own custom stamps, using wine corks and an x-acto knife. You can make any simple shape that you like! Just draw it onto the top of the cork, then cut around the shape so it’s raised a little bit.

5. DIY Cork Wine stoppers – Make your own wine stoppers by supergluing small gemstones on the tops of some leftover wine corks. If gemstones aren’t your thing, you can use any small, flat-bottomed object.
