Michelle’s growers, which include their own Canoe Ridge Estate, Cold Creek and Indian Wells vineyards, allowed for an additional 112,000 cases — an increase of 34%. Those 14 months resting in oak make for aromas of plum, blueberry and toast with some smoked game and chalkboard dust. The medium tannin structure and combination of purple fruit flavors akin to blueberry and pomegranate make for a Cab that continues to evolve in the glass with more meatiness and late lift of chocolate. Their consistent approach makes this a continued foil for a steak topped by blue cheese, rosemary-rubbed veal or dishes featuring spices such as paprika, clove, ginger, mace or nutmeg.
