The inaugural Harvest Celebration at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens will be like nothing we’ve ever done before. With the combination of live music, delicious food vendors, barrel making, painting, and succulent planting, guests are guaranteed to have a memorable day.
On Saturday, October 1st, we will be honoring our 35th successful harvest with an intimate festival event taking place in our gorgeous event gardens. It will be a perfect day for family and friends to celebrate the agricultural bounty we are so fortunate to be able to enjoy here in Sonoma County, as well as the hard work that goes into providing such amazing farm-to-table food and wine.
After 20 years of hosting the Heirloom Tomato Festival each fall, we thought it was time for a change. We wanted to create a more intimate experience for our most valued fans that captures the bounty of harvest, while still indulging our love for tomatoes. But rest assured, fans of our garden-grown heirloom tomatoes won’t be disappointed.
Additionally, we are excited to announce that we have partnered with UC Master Gardeners of Sonoma County to provide guests with unforgettable activities from local gardening experts.
What are Master Gardeners, you ask? Master Gardeners are trained and certified University of California volunteers whose mission is to provide unbiased, high-quality, science-based information to home gardeners in Sonoma County. Master Gardeners are given a training program in plant science covering topics such as soil and plant nutrition, irrigation, weed-insect-disease control, vegetables, fruit trees and berries, landscape trees-shrubs-lawns-flowers, home composting, and pesticide use alternatives. The Sonoma County Master Gardeners started in 1981 and have continued to assist home gardeners ever since. Their purpose is to provide information and support to active members of the community that are interested in their local environments.
The UC Master Gardeners are partnering with Jackson Family Wines this year to help bring guests fun and educational activities ranging from making festive succulent planters, to how to be a better at home gardener.
We know all these DIY activities are sure to give you quite an appetite, rest assured they will be paired with amazing food for hungry guests! Our food purveyors this year include Hana Sushi, Backyard, Hog Island Oyster Company, Fiorellos, El Barrio, Pt. Reyes Creamery, Chevoo cheese, Beehive Creamery, The Farmer’s wife, Nicasio Valley cheese company, Volo Chocolate, Stark Reality restaurants, Two Birds One Stone, Jackson’s Bar and Oven and a veggie tasting station that will include fresh, seasonal tomatoes.
Like all of our events, the Harvest Festival will aim to be a completely Zero Waste event! This means that all cups, cutlery, plates and napkins will be 100% recyclable or compostable and volunteers will be staffing diversion stations throughout the event to help guests keep waste out of landfill. By creating more Zero Waste events, we are taking steps to achieve our sustainability goals and are helping to leave less of an impact on our earth.
